My Wireless Network
Sometimes you will have your wireless network just not work. You will try to connect your computer to the router to get internet access and nothing will happen. This can be tricky and frustrating at the same time. Find out some steps that you can take that can help you get your network working again the way you wanted it to so that you can have wireless internet again.
You need to check the connections on all your devices. Is everything plugged in securely? Is the power strip turned on? Is the internet feed securely connected to the modem? Sometimes a simple mistake like this can cause huge problems and frustration. It doesn’t have to happen this way. You need to doublecheck everything.
Is your network adapter plugged into the computer properly? You might have a USB port that is not working meaning it won’t connect to the router cause the device isn’t seen by the computer. Your card might not be pushed in all the way as far as it needs to be. Make sure your computer is actually recognizing the hardware.
Do you have the most up to date drivers? It’s very important to go to the manufacturers site and get the latest drivers. These work better in most circumstances and will have any improved technologies in them that might be needed for a newer router.
Call your internet service provider and see if you do actually have a strong signal. Sometimes everything is connected together properly but you don’t have internet access because it’s just not there. You might have to upgrade to a stronger signal if the current company is not providing what you are paying for.
You could be too far away from the router. Sometimes it’s hard to get a signal after going through multiple walls in your home. Put the router in a more central location so that all the computers in the house will get a better connection.
Update your operating system. Sometimes a new service pack might be needed to help with wireless networking with newer hardware.
